Camp Sagamore
was built by William West Durant in 1897 and purchased by Alfred Vanderbilt in
1901. Unfortunately, Mr. Vanderbilt was onboard the Lusitania when it went down
in 1915 but his widow, Margaret Emerson, inherited Camp Sagamore and continued
to entertain family and friends there until her death in 1954.
Hundreds of miles from
the rigors and formalities of society, dozens of servants treated guests like
royalty as they roughed it in the middle of the woods. Many activities took
place in an elaborate playhouse with billiards, ping pong and a semi-outdoor
bowling alley that's still operational today.
We can only imagine the lavish breakfasts that must have
been served in this magical place. Please enjoy this delightful collection our
most popular breakfast items gathered in tribute to Camp Sagamore.
